History. INHIGEO has been established by the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS) and is also affiliated with the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science (IUHPS). The suggestion for the establishment of INHIGEO in was chiefly due to the ideas and efforts of the distinguished Russian geologist Vladimir Tikhomirov (–) from the Geological Institute of Abbreviation: INHIGEO.

The Geological Survey of Canada (GSC; French: Commission géologique du Canada (CGC)) is a Canadian federal government agency responsible for performing geological surveys of the country, developing Canada's natural resources and protecting the environment.
